First Kiss

I think I've taken this iteration about as far as I can. I think at this point I'll just have to do it again! And next time, I'll avoid the light violet.

11 x 13 3/8 inches. Line work colors are paynes gray, quinacridone crimson, and cobalt teal with titanium white underpainting. Background is light violet and light violet mixed with quinacridone crimson.

I Don't Think These Colors Are Working

Yeah, so, the colors aren't working for me. And, although I love the composition, I can't get the sketch and the background to interact properly. I may need to just start all over on this one, but I'm going to make one more attempt to fix it by adjusting most of the color scheme and/ or by using layering.

I Love the Shapes Here!!

On the left is the original sketch; the upper right is a quick charcoal study I did; the lower right is my attempt to put this into paint. I love the shapes!

The painting is a layer of gesso on paper (11 x 14 inch Strathmore 80 lbs.); a layer of light violet mixed with soft gel (semi-gloss), brushed on with a size 16 flat; a layer of titanium white mixed with soft gel (semi-gloss), brushed on with a size 16 flat; an outline in titanium white and an outline in paynes grey.

"First Kiss"

An idea that came to me the other night as I drifted off to sleep. Such a good thing I texted myself about it so that I'd remember it and actually put it on paper!

Now to paint it...
