I sold one piece before even hanging up the show. I just sold another! The email I got about it was awesome: "Saw it in Radina's. Love it. Want it." I don't think it gets any better than that. That is honestly the emotional reaction that I want to elicit from an art appreciater or potential buyer.

I'll have to get a better photo of this, but for now this will do. I got her framed! Now I need to decide whether I go back and dry mount or not. There are a few waves, but they almost add character to the overall effect.

Aaaand, paint it again!

I've got some complicated stuff planned for these, but in a nutshell this is me attempting the composition again on different surfaces. Paper is on the left, hand-stretched canvas on the right.

A close up!! She's been turned into circles. I really do find the original photograph to be a fascinating composition of the body.

Charis Wilson, Revisited (a couple of times...)

So, since my first attempt at this painting sold like a hot cake (I had her less than a week!), I figured it was a good enough composition to try again. On the left you'll see my work-in-progress on a stretched (by me!) canvas, and on the right you'll see my finished painting on paper. There are a lot of layers on that piece of painting. I'm amazed!

I hope to have the one on the left finished soon, but it may take some more time. There are a few issues I have to solve...

Charis Wilson Again!

I'm rather loving this. I may have successfully executed a painting for once... But, of course, I have to do this again a few times, just to see what turns up/ out. Side note, I do have a problem with her lower leg and hand clasp here. They are not worked enough and look weak and too sketchy. But I don't know if I'll fix them here, or in the next painting.
