Hmmm. I'm Still Not Convinced

I think I made her look older. Perhaps I need to add some of the yellow cheek border back to the right side of her face...

Kira with a Pearl Earring

Am I done??? I totally dig thiiiiis!!

I think I have found two minor spots I need to fix, plus an artist friend suggested I make her earring irridescent (I have the perfect color for doing that), so I may tweak this a tiny bit later. But overall, I'm feeling she may be done.

Fun Detail

Up close and personal! Too bad I'm going to paint on her some more. I think this part will not change, however.

Fe de Erratas: I did add a few brush strokes to her right cheek, just to the side of the nose. Oops!

I Kept Going!

I think she looks like my brother's girlfriend, Kira, now. Hmm. I also am reminded of this painting by Johannes Vermeer. Working title: "Kira with a Pearl Earring" (must add pearl earring).

She still needs work. The plan is to paint again today! I'm on a roll. Hopefully.

Dimensions: 10 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches. Colors palate: paynes gray, light magenta, titan buff, red oxide, naphthol red medium, naples yellow hue, and a touch of primary magenta and phthalo blue (green shade).

And a Close Up!!!

This is just so awesome!! Wow. I need to do more work like this.

Sigh... and of course I make it my Facebook profil pic and all the flaws in the painting shine through for everyone to see. Gah. I'm going to go vacuum the carpet.

Auto-Retrato (with comparison sketch)!!!

Oh, this is fun. I think I did something right in a painting for once!!! I wonder if James would agree...

Here is the original sketch.
